The Portuguese Association of Education through Art was created in 1957, being the President Alice Gomes, who also attended the first Insea Meeting. The Association had as its members Calvet de Magalhães, Almada Negreiros, João dos Santos, Arquimedes da Silva Santos, Nikias Skapinakis, among others.
The Association has as its main reference Herbert Read's book Education through Art, published in spanish in 1955, and translated into Portuguese in 1958.
