From the 18th of March to 12th of April 1937 the Göteborg Museum of Art (Göteborgs konstmuseum) Sweden, held an exhibition of Franz Cizek’s work on child art. Other exhibitions of child art were realised in 1932, 1937, 1947, 1948, 1949, 1952, 1953 and then again from 1984 onwards (Skiascope vol. 1, p. 370).

In the preface of the book Child Art and Franz Čižek" by Wilhelm Viola, the author mentions Madeline Ekenberg who Viola most likely met at the University of Vienna where they both studied and worked in the 1920s and 1930s. Ekenberg was born in Gothenburg but spent most of her lifetime abroad, amongst other places in Great Britian, Australia, France and evidently Austria.

In connection with the publishing of th Viola's book on Čižek's Juvenile Art Classes in Vienna, exhibtions of child art were realised in Norway and Sweden. I could not determine what precisely Ekenbergs role and influence was on Viola's work and the exhibtion Barnets konst but a linkage suggests itself strongly.

For her doctoral dissertation with the title "Verfehlungen verwahrloster Jugendlicher” (freely transl. "Misdemeanors/Transgressions of neglected adolescents"), Ekenberg conducted research on adolescents in orphanages, counselling centres and similar welfare institutions in Vienna (Wr. Fürsorgeanstalten, Wiener Jugendheim in der Ungargasse und  Beratungsstelle Czerninplatz).
